Joe & Cathie Locetta

We recommitted our lives to Jesus in 1995 and quickly discovered the joy of serving and giving our time, talents, and resources to expand God’s Kingdom. It’s been an exciting journey together with many generous people with servant hearts. It took a while for us to realize that those who serve represent about 20 percent of church goers – the others just seem to be 2 busy 2 serve

During the past few election cycles, we became actively involved with the conservative political movement. We were shocked to discover that about 50 percent of Christians are registered to vote and only half of them typically vote. That means that around 75 percent of Christians are not engaged in the political process. This dismal fact partially explains the shift in the American culture from biblical to worldly values during the past several decades.

Our life experiences and observations as Christian citizens made us wonder – what’s holding Christians back from stepping up to serve God, family and country? The answers – the explanations that we heard most often were – “I’m too busy” or “I don’t have the time.” As we searched deeper, we realized that there were other reasons that people were too embarrassed to discuss. They were living worldly lifestyles instead of biblical lifestyles and were often distracted by personal debt, materialism, and fear. We sensed an increasing passion in ourselves to “free the captives” from debt and the grip of materialism. This “calling” motivated us to volunteer to be Financial Peace University (FPU) coordinators and coaches at church in 2010.

We had previously studied the Larry Burkett Crown Ministries course on household budgeting, debt elimination, saving, and investing and were applying these biblical principles in our personal lives. We felt confident that we were “walking the talk” and were on our way to becoming debt free. We completed the FPU coursework and began to lead others through it. We had the privilege of working with hundreds of individuals and couples in the classroom and follow-up coaching sessions. It was such a joy to help them discover how to achieve financial freedom – tithing, eliminating debt, living on a budget, and saving for emergencies and a future of generous giving and living. We also learned and shared with others that stewardship isn’t just about managing finances. We expanded our purpose to helping and coaching individuals and couples achieve a better balance in all aspects of their lives -- spiritual (FAITH), relational (FAMILY), financial (FINANCE), physical (FITNESS), and political (FREEDOM).

These experiences and observations touched us deeply and increased our passion to launch the 2 Busy 2 Serve initiative in 2017. The 2 Busy 2 Serve purpose is to liberate and equip Christian citizens to generously serve God, family, and country while being salt and light in our culture. The 2 Busy 2 Serve ministry includes a combination of courses, coaching, and other resources including a series of books starting with 2 Busy 2 Serve? and 2 Busy 2 Vote? and sequels including 2 Busy 2 Succeed? and others.
